Iranian women’s taekwondo achieved a historic success at the Asian Games with Moradi’s gold medal; it was the first time Iranian women had won a title in the sport in the history of the Games. Saei, head coach of the national women’s taekwondo team, described the value of the achievement to his team as equivalent to two gold medals. He also said an injury prevented Karimi from winning a medal.

Moradi won the first gold medal in the history of Iranian women’s taekwondo at the Asian Games. National team head coach Saei called the achievement extremely valuable and said Karimi’s injury prevented her from winning a medal.
