Mohitizadeh addressed the issue of his banned shoes after being disqualified from the heptathlon at the Asian Games. The Iranian national team athlete said the shoes he wore had been on the banned-shoes list for five months, but he did not know about it. Mohitizadeh, who lost his Asian Games medal as a result, said that before his disqualification he had been thinking about celebrating on the medal podium.
